Our
society, our homes, our communities, our churches are all filled
with individuals who have and are experiencing a level of depression,
loneliness, lack of self-esteem, and low self-worth due to failures
in their life. Isn’t it funny how the enemy endeavors to capitalize
on our failures to distract us from the plan of God for our lives?
There were some failures that we felt were fatal. We felt as if
God would not grant us a second chance. We have all felt that those
mistakes were so fatal that they had the power to cause death, ruin,
and destruction for the destiny of our lives.
We
are all guilty of making mistakes. We have all had some failures
in our decisions, our choices, ourselves, and even our walk with
God.
Sometimes
you may feel like you cannot start over because the depth of your
fall made such an impact that it difficult to stand. You may have
felt that once you made one step towards your future your past grabbed
hold to the ankles of your mind and keeping you entangled.
Through
the difficult years of Apostle Paul’s life he was still able
to record; “.....I count not myself to have apprehended....”.
In essence he was saying, “I haven’t arrived yet. I
am not perfect.” “...but this one things I do, forgetting
those things [failures...] which are behind....”. In
other words “I turn it lose. I know I did it. I admit it.
But it is over.”
When you truly get a clear understanding of God’s grace -
you’ll forget your past. Grace is not something natural that
we can cause to happen, but it is something supernatural that only
comes from God. The grace of God is favor or kindness shown without
regard to the worth or merit of the one who receives it, and in
spite of what that same person deserves.
But
through the grace of God, when and if we fail we can start over.
The
only thing Satan can remind you of is your past failures. The bible
says; "Satan is your accuser...” He comes to
tell you that there is no hope, it is over, there has been too much
damage. But God is a God of restoration. He has come that you may
be fully restored back into right relationship with Him.
Most people live far beneath the level of blessing that is available
for their lives because they feel unworthy to be used of God. If
you feel that you are notgood enough to be used and blessed by God,
remember that.....
John
quit his ministry
Hosea’s wife was a prostitute
Jacob was a liar and deceiver
Peter denied Jesus because of a young girl’s ridicule
John The Baptist failed in his focus and became self-righteous
Moses, David, and Paul were murderers
Jonah failed in following instructions from God
Miriam was a gossiper
Gideon and Thomas doubted
Samson failed to keep a secret
Noah got drunk
Moses, Peter, and Paul had temper problems.
Through
the mistakes of these individuals they were still used in the plan
of God.
You
may feel like you can’t start over because you’ve failed
or denied God, you have walked away from God’s purpose for
your life, or you have allowed the enemy to distract you. You are
the one God wants to use. Yes, you and your failures!
If
you feel that nothing good can come of your life and things are
hopeless – you are wrong. God wants to rescue you from your
situation. He is the God of “new beginnings” and He
still loves you. He can and He will put your life back on track...if
you allow Him. God will build an expressway from where you are right
now, directly to His plan for your life.
-Bishop
Alvin D. Stewart, Jr.
